SPOILERS This was the first book I've read digitally, so I don't know if that was part of my 'disconnect' with the story. However, I kept waiting for answers to some mysteries (more details of the background of Margaret, who was the father of the baby she gave up??!!). And the suicide of the farm helper (Hjerlman? something like that) was unexpected & I had hoped for a better outcome for him, especially after the man of the farm, who bullied him, died. I felt that the book ended abruptly; did I miss a last chapter because of a Kindle glitch?
