Description
Product Description This CD follows Louisiana Red's triumphants 1998 return to America on the festival circuit and is his first new U.s. recording in many years. In this mix of solo acoustic blues guitar and classic Chicago electric band contexts, Red demonstrates that he learned his lessons well from the blues musicians who mentored him so long ago. Featuring Handy Award winner Willie Kent on bass, Dave Jefferson, formerly of the Albert King band, on drums, allen batts of the early Albert Collins' Ice Breakers band on electric piano, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith on harmonica and Brian bisesi on rhythm guitar. Review This one's got my bet for comeback album of the year. Take a blues cruise with Louisiana Red, 'cause the blues don't get any better than this! --Jazz & Blues Report

Millennium Blues is a 1999 CD release by an old school blues artist. This Earwig label album finds Louisiana Red with a complete backing band. Those who are familiar with Louisiana Red’s work know he often works solo. However, the band fills in nicely and this is a less raw, more melodic offering. However, it is hardly bedtime music. Louisiana Red sings with a guttural passion that forces the listener to pay attention.Earwig does a fine job with the production. As men like Louisiana Red pass on the true nature of Living Blues dies with it. Louisiana Red is an under recognized blues artist deserving of wider recognition. Recommended.
