I haven’t used this yet but I did test it out. We’ll see how well it works when school starts.The camera is nice. It does what it's supposed. Depending on where you put the camera it's hard for the picture to not be dark. I use it for my son's online classes and I have to keep moving it to where my son isn't in the dark.It seems that the camera is backwards and cannot be reversed. It's hard to set it on top of your document because it is upside down. If you set it where it needs to be it's in your way. If you could also use a higher base. The ability to focus is wonderful. It works in a dark room or a bright room.I would’ve kept this document camera! But my school purchased is one. But I did try it and it worked just like I wanted. Gotta make sure you allow you laptop to I think the call it mirror the document/image. Because it’s flipped upside/down. But for the price you cannot go wrong.I don't like the picture quality of this USB camera. It doesn't get a full of the document I sharing on the computer. I would pay a little more for a better USB camera.I bought this camera to use with skype on a mac mini. It is gorgeous to look at, you can plug it directly into a usb port or, for more convenient placement, use the base it comes with and put it anywhere the USB cable will reach. Painless setup, great image quality, and the fact that it has a built in microphone means no additional external mic is required, so one less cable and one less thing to crowd the table.I have heard the issues regarding iChat, and they're valid, but since I do not use it, I can't really complain about it. Setup was simple, and if I have one gripe is that Amazon does not have all the available colors this camera comes in. But that's obviously a very minor point.Buy it. Buy it now. I wouldn't have made it through teaching last year, and wouldn't make it through this year without this camera. Love it. Easy to add to your computer, easy to use.I purchased the HUE webcam to produce videos on youtube. The videos produced by this webcam were so poor in quality that I had to delete them from the you tube site. I experimented with a variety of different settings, as well as those suggest by youtube. Each was worse than the last and several were rejected by youtube as unreadable. I called HUE customer service and was told through automatic electronic message that my call would be returned shortly. I never heard back after waiting five days. I then called again and was told that my call would be returned shortly. I have never heard from them. This is a bad camera with truly awful customer service.However, I should also say that I solved the problem of producing quality videos with the HUE webcam. Here is the solution. Make the video without any compression from the HUE software. Then after filming, import the video into iMovie and export the file using the Web or Web stream format. If you follow this procedure, you will wind up with a quality video on youtube.I am keeping this a one star review because of the HUE's utter indifference to customer inquiries.I was really pleased when tried this on my desk top, worked really well great picture and sound fine. However then couldn't get it to work on my new work laptop or my husbands laptop at home. Thankfully he understands computers and worked out the camera itself needed a firmware update. once this done, now working brilliantly on laptops too. Bit frustrating and thankful I have someone at home in the know. Heads up to anyone buying if this happens to you, likely same issue. Glad now sorted though as really please, especially for the price, certainly as good as the one we have a school that cost well over £100...I am generally pleased with this product, although now I only use it for video calls on Skype.Some reviewers reported audio feedback which made their Skype sessions insufferable. I have not experienced any such problems despite having the cam in front of my speakers and I suspect that these reviewers have an older version of Skype installed which pre-dates the call quality and feedback reduction improvements. For reference, at the time of writing I was using the manufacturer's driver version 5.7.19.121, and version 4.0.0.206 of Skype.The only problems I have had with this item are as follows:- Dead pixel. There is one dead pixel on the sensor which is annoyingly right in centre frame and appears as a white dot on video, which leaves a faint trail when there is movement.- Flexibility. A very minor issue, but the neck is not as flexible as you might hope. It does not like acute angles, and will topple over if it becomes unbalanced.- Focusing. Can be tricky to focus accurately with the manual focus.- Whine. When the microphone and video capture are used at the same time, I have noticed a whine in the audio playback. I think this is EM feedback in the microphone caused by the image sensor being powered up. The problem is not evident when using the microphone on its own.Apart from that, the quality is great. It has great resolution and a whole raft of video effects which can be very fun. Installation is really easy too.At this price, it's recommended for both Skypers and Youtubers.** Update: 27/06/09 **I contacted the manufacturer through their web site and reported the dead pixel. By the end of the day they had shipped a replacement head/neck to me at no charge, as well as prepaid packaging to send the old one back. What excellent service!Shame the new camera head has three dead pixels as opposed to one, but they are in less prominent places. Also the neck is a lot more flexible and holds its position more happily.I ordered this as a fault with my laptop's built-in webcam neat I couldn't be seen by she who must be obeyed when we chatted on msn each night. Some might say being unable to see me is a GOOD thing, but she seems to enjoy looking at me, so...I ordered this based on previous reviews!The installation was super easy, and after a little tinkering MSN found the cam.And when I saw the image quality I was astounded - it was fantastic! Tracking was fast and smotth, and I much prefer the manual focusing of the lens to using a digital zoom function.So in short, if you want a webcam with great image quality for not a lot of cash, get one of these - they rock!This cam is great due to the twisty design in the neck of it that allows you to film artwork and then film direct or just twist and point the cam wherever need be. Seems pretty good quality for the money and was delivered on time in nice packaging that's handy for storage when I'm not using it.Came across this at Amazon, while browsing, what a clever design, well worth the investment, the first thing that strikes you is the almost true colour imaging, and clarity, but it also has many output features, and settings etc, I use Vista, remember with this device install CD driver first, connect the Cam when instructed, for trouble free install, I am not able to advise on other computer platforms, unlike most web cams, which remain ON while plugged in, this operates only on program request, saving power, the base lamp remains ON to let you know its plugged in ready,First class device,
