Description
Product Description Soda Dispenser, 4 ½" (cd) Amazon.com Flat ginger ale may be what your mom gave you when you had an upset tummy, but it isn't what you want in your highball. And fizz always seems to flit away faster in big 2-liter bottles of soda--every time the cap is loosened, a bit more carbon dioxide dissipates. To solve this problem, the Jokari soda dispenser replaces the cap on any 2-liter soda bottle and provides both an airtight seal and a push button method of pouring, in an effort to keep both fizz and fluid fresh. By gently shaking the bottle (before all but the first pour), the patented design propels soda up the flexible tube, where it's ready for dispensing with a push of the thumb. It's a great theory, and in general terms it works. Unfortunately, when the button is pressed, the soda sprays out in a diverging rush, the same way light diffuses from your car's headlights. The resultant violence of the soda stream tends to cause more of the carbonation to dissipate even more rapidly; seconds later, by the time the foam subsides, what's in your glass seems considerably less bubbly than if you'd poured it yourself. Preserving the fizz is a noble goal, but a bubbleless London Buck cocktail is just pathetic. --Tony Mason

I've been wanting a way to keep 2-liters from going flat as long as I can remember. I initally tried the pump tops, but that never did work out very well. I read the reviews of the Jokari Soda Dispenser and was not convinced it would be any better. However, I decided to give it a try anyways.Well, all I can say is this has been exactly what I have been wanting. I try to really minimze my sugar, but I definitely have a sweet tooth ans this can be very difficult at times. One thing that help is dite soda in that it gives me the seet taste, while containing zero sugar -- and just a small glass usually holds me over.I tried buying 2-liters of soda since it is by far the cheapest way to buy, but it would always go flat way too quickly. That has all changed now. I take a unopened 2-liter bottle of Coke Zero and place in fridge overnight. In the morning, I remove the cap and install the dispenser. When the bottle is full, I sometime have to give a small shake to get it out, but after that, I typically do not have to do anything but squeeze. I have been using this now for a few months without any issues.I keep the bottle in the door of my fridge and never take it out - just open the door, hold the glass up, and dispense the soda, perfectly chilled. I'm not sure I want to carry a full 2-liter around by the handle in and out of the fridge. The dispenser feels relatively soild, but I have tried to minize it's handling to hopefuly increase its life.Does it foam heavilly, yes if the bottle has fully pressurized. Does it still taste carbonated, yes it does. Does it spray or spill out of my cup when dispensing, no. When the bottle is about 90% empty, it does tend to go flat if not drank right away. Otherwise, the full contents of the 2-liter stays carbonated until I am ready to drink it. Give this a try, it might be exaclty what you ahve been wanting for some time now.UPDATE MAY 2103:Still going strong. I have found that certain sodas work better than others. It did not work well on diet Mountain Dew as apparently it is just not carbonated as much as some other sodas. I typically use if for Coke Zero and that has plenty of carbonation. It does tend to leak at times, but I've found cleaning and letting it get to room temperature and then screwing it onto a pre-chilled bottle, makes it 100% leak free on most occasions. I've tried to go from emptying a cold bottle straight into a new already cold bottle and it would leak everywhere. This happened a few times before I realized that letting the dispenser get to room temp seemed to be the key. I think the rubber that seals onto the top of the bottle shrinks when cooled in the fridge and needs to be warmed so it can "relax" and get a good seal on the next bottle. It's been over a year and still using the same dispenser regularly. When used properly with a soda that has enough carbonation, it works perfectly.I’ve been using the same set of 3 of these dispensers, and would buy them again. I use them exclusively with seltzer that I make with a carbonation cap and bottle of CO2 that I got filled at the local welding supply.Pros:- They do what they’re supposed to do: dispense your carbonated beverage without making the bottle go flat. You can’t escape the laws of physics, though - as you dispense, you’re still depleting the CO2 in the bottle. Far less than removing the cap each time you pour a drink, but there is definitely a noticeable difference between the first glass and the last.- the handle lets me dispense right from the door of the fridge, something the kids like too.- as long as you don’t overtighten the dispenser, I get no leakage over the course of a few days, the longest a 2L bottle ever lasts around my houseCons:- the hose that draws from the bottle will eventually fall off into your bottle. The hose naturally gets curvy, as you have to screw the dispenser onto the bottle, and this makes it especially difficult to extract from the bottle. Since I reuse the same 2L bottles for my seltzer, I’m reluctant to cut the bottle and just get another.- it takes a good amount of practice to get the right installation torque. Too much, and you compress the rubber washer into your bottle, and it leaks. Too little, and the seal isn’t enough to stop leaks. Once you get the knack, it’s fine.- you can’t dispense more than about 16oz of beverage at a time before you’ve exhausted the pressure in the bottle. Again, physics. You can shake the bottle to release more CO2 from the liquid, but only enough for a few ounces at a time. This makes it impractical for use when a bunch of people want to dispense at the same time, like at dinner time, for example. My workaround is to have two bottles set up at a time, and that handles the need for four people. YMMV.If you’re into making your own gourmet sodas on a budget, these are far more practical than a sodastream or isi-type carbonator. With lots of $, I’d think about springing for a bar-style machine. In the meantime, I’m very happy with this solution along with homemade and Monin syrups.Cheers! So far (three bottles of club soda over two weeks) this is working very well. I bought it to replace something very similar I had mail-ordered (pre-internet era) many years ago. Jokari has taken the same basic design and made it more ergonomic with the handle, trigger and flexible tube.information is accurate, just like what they advertise. i like this product, you'll get good deal with this product. yesNot what I was hoping for but it does work.Did not workLeaked immediately- would not buy again
