While there are numerous studies that confirm the rate of cancer and other chronic diseases in pets has spiked since dried kibble became the "norm" (my grandparents and all prior generations made their dogs meals and fed them table scraps, and lived over 15 years w/ no cancer)... Orijen is one of the best dried dog foods available. Be very wary of Purina and other commercial food brands that are subsidiaries of larger corporations that supply human food products, as there is a nearly impossible-to-deny chance that they are using human product scraps and other waste items in your pets' food. Orijen has had the least amount of recalls and makes it its business to provide only high quality products in its dog food. The food comes in a vacuum sealed package which is important to maintain freshness and insure that the food hasn't been contaminated by bugs and insects (do a web search on what can happen to food if a bug or vermin get into it! Mold, bacteria, etc. GROSS!) My dogs have been through a few brands over the years and I will say that off the bat, Orijen was not their favorite. I see lots of comments from folks that their pet did not like it, but understand that changing your pet food to anything that isn't junk food may need to occur gradually (as to also not upset their digestion!) This kibble is not coated with all the yummy fat and artificial flavors and colors that other food brands are, so it may take them a bit to get used to it -- much like your kids will gobble up Mickey D's and other fatty, sugary foods but leave the broccoli, green beans and brussel sprouts on their dinner plate. If you gradually mix it in with their other food and slowly omit the fatty stuff, they'll learn to enjoy it just fine. While of course family, they are dogs and cannot feed themselves - so eventually they will eat what you put in front of them - and if you must feed kibble, this is one of the best choices on the market. My dogs have been eating Orijen for the last two years (they are young dogs, under 3, but I see marked improvement in their energy level, coat, stools and overall health.) I also now mix the dry kibble with equal parts of human quality home-cooked pet food called Lucky Dog, which has even more so benefited their health & digestion (less poo, less stinky poo, little to no skin allergy symptoms for my French Bulldog, etc.) But even if you are feeding only dry dog food, you will not be disappointed in Orijen - just do your research online if you question the necessity of spending a little more for your beloved pet!
