This is probably the first piece of equipment a new astronomer should get once they decide to go out at night to see the stars. These are the only LED flashlights that our astronomy club recommends. The point of red LED lights is to preserve not only your own night vision while working at your telescope but to preserve the night vision of everyone around you too. This light has a dimming control wheel so you can set the brightness where you want it. Once you get used to working under soft red light, you will find that a flash of white light is actually painful, and leaves you back in the dark. Using the Rigel Starlite shows that you know what you are doing and that you care about your fellow observers. PS: The red LED lights on the headbands are the worst! They are way too bright and can't be dimmed and they blind your neighbor on the field. Use these lights; they're the best.
