Stunning!! That might be the better word. I'm simply blown away! This may be one of the greatest new albums of the year.And I wasn't expecting it.I pick up almost all the "American Idol" contestant's CDs because I have such a large American Idol Fan base listening to our radio station: WiZARD RADIO.So, when June 28th rolled around I knew I need to add a Stevens song or two.I downloaded a couple of tracks from Walmart and played them. That was all it took. I IMMEDIATELY purchased the entire CD.The album, as you would expect, is comprised of mostly "standards." But it's by far the best album of "standards" since the Linda Ronstadt collection of 30 years ago.And this might actually be the better album.Part of the reason this stands out is the amazing crystal clear production. I simply have never heard an album "sound" better.Steven's vocals really stand out. There is no excessive mixing, overdubbing or "tricks."The orchestration is subdued and supportive rather than the Clive Davis/Barry Manalow style that is so overwhelming it often obscures the soloist.It's all John Stevens, clean, clear and pure.the WiZARD...........
