One of many great New Orleans piano players .'The Professor ' used more or less the same material throughout his recording career.However he used a multitude of different backing arrangements to his rhumba style piano playing and I feel that by far the best recordings were made for Atlantic and released on both LP and CD 'New Orleans Piano' using Cosimo's great studio band with Lee Allen ,Red Tyler ,Edgar Blanchard and drummer Earl Palmer.This CD follows the normal concept regarding choice of material although there are six interesting live recordings from New Orleans.'Stompin' with Fess' is also an interesting number but all in all 'we've heard it all before'.But don't let that deter you if you are a real fan of 50's New Orleans R&B and you, like me,will buy 'everything'.Alles GUT!!!
