Eric Carle explains how to use the book and why the phenomenon occurs, accompanied by an easily digestible, predictable story that young children can say along with the reader. Kids are all amazed when they can see the opposite color of the animal they were staring at appear on the facing blank page. I had my students make their own images afterwards, and use the color wheel to choose the opposite of what they want the color to look like!
