I purchased the Eurotech Vera chair after having tried some of the ergonomic chairs from Steelcase (Leap v2 and Think V1) and Staples (Hyken). I found all those chairs, while providing excellent back and lumbar support, had extremely firm to the point of hard seating cushions that were exceptionally uncomfortable to sit in after about 15-20 minutes. After much searching, I settled on the Eurotech Vera. I previously had a Eurotech (Raynor) chair that lasted in excess of 15 but whose cushions had just flattened out and were no longer comfortable. The Vera is kind of the best of both worlds - a very comfortable mesh back chair with a lumbar curve along with a deeply padded firm seat that is comfortable for extended sitting periods. For me, the seat is a godsend as it does not inflict pain on my upper thighs and tailbone like the Steelcase or Staples chair did. I find I can sit comfortably with a nicely padded seat cushion and very nice back and lumbar support from the mesh back. Now - why the reduction from 5 to 4 stars. Simply put, the packaging on the Vera chair is abysmal. I have never seen a new product packaged so carelessly from the factory. The box itself is a very cheap, thin cardboard that is easily punctured or torn. In my case, the flaps of the box were not properly taped or secured, causing notable gaps and openings in the box. The box was so poorly packaged that the included Allen wrench was clearly poking through one of the flap openings......a bad sign.On opening the box, I was shocked to see that the assembly bolts and washers were just loosely thrown in the box. The little plastic envelope that should have secured the parts was taped to the box with the casters, but it was sealed and contained nothing in it. All the bolts were just scattered loose in the bottom of the box. I ended up missing 1 armchair bolt and the 2 hole washer to secure the chair. I did contact Eurotech Customer Service to report the missing pieces and then advised to email their parts dept. with a list of missing parts they would send out. In the interim I purchased 1 bolt and washers to secure the arm to finish the chair. In closing, the Eurotech Vera is a 5 star chair based on the design and comfort. But the packaging is the absolute worst and resulted in taking a star off for the really careless way the chair and its assembly parts was packaged.Lots of people have raved about this chair, and lots have complained that theirs creak. Mine does not creak. And it is reasonably comfortable -- certainly my back feels a lot better than it did when I was sitting all day in my old decrepit piece of junk. But it is not great, not amazing... It is at best "okay." Here are some complaints:1) The armrests are plastic. They're not the hardest plastic in the world, but you certainly would never call them soft.2) The seat cushion is relatively hard. Maybe that's better for support, but it doesn't make you feel especially comfortable.3) I am 5' 8"; I have it at its lowest height setting, and that feels just about right to me. If it went lower, I might try it out and occasionally use it that way, but I will never adjust it to anything higher. So if you're shorter than I am, chances are the chair cannot be lowered enough for you to have your feet firmly and comfortably on the floor. Same with the armrests -- I have them at their lowest setting, and would like the option to have them lower.4) The packaging is so unbelievably bad that it is miraculous that any of them are ever delivered undamaged -- my first one looked like the UPS truck ran it over a few times, and the mesh of the seat back was dented (as well as various scrapings on other parts). Amazon replaced it for free of course, but that didn't get me in a new chair any quicker. (Yours will not be packaged any better -- this is how they ship from the factory to Amazon; Amazon does not repack them.) They take a big box, throw all the pieces in, and stuff in a few bits of cardboard to float around between them. You literally will not be able to believe how poorly this is done...On the plus side, I think the tension control for the back works well. I think the adjustable arms are a gimmick, and annoying at first (you lean over to get something and the armrest moves...), but I have gotten used to them. The horizontal adjustment of the seat (forwards and backwards) is very awkward and difficult to use, and of questionable merit. As I said, my back does feel better, which is why I am giving 3 stars, but I can't imagine how anyone is truly impressed by this chair. There are a number of well-reviewed, very expensive chairs out there (in the $700 -- $1400 range); I might consider one, but it's hard to shell out that kind of money when you can't sit in it first (and "not comfortable" is not going to get you a free return -- most of the sites that sell them even charge a significant restocking fee, in addition to return shipping, which can't be cheap). So this chair seemed like a reasonable compromise, which I guess pretty much sums up what it is.
