Buffalo, NY, singer-songwriter Rob Falgiano has 6 independent full-length CDs to his credit. His latest collection of bittersweet, melodic songs - Red - was released October, 2005. Falgiano's style has drawn comparisons to Alternative / Acoustic / Americana artists like Elliott Smith, James Taylor, Nick Drake, The Smiths, Damien Rice, Old 97s, Sufjan Stevens, Prefab Sprout & David Byrne. Strong influences include 70s folk, vintage and alt-country, 80s Brit-pop, jazz-based hip hop, new acoustic, loungy Brazilian and reggae rhythms, and American big band crooners. Opening slots for more than a dozen nationals include: Nellie McKay, The Pushstars, 10,000 Maniacs, Goo Goo Dolls, Ron Hawkins, 54-40, Deep Blue Something, and Kevin Hearn's Turnbuckle (Barenaked Ladies). Falgiano earned First Prize Honors in the 1998 Conan O'Brien College Band Search (with a previous band), narrowly missing the Grand Prize of performing on the show. Rob's music ('Burning Sun') was featured on the hit television show 'Felicity' (WB), and can be heard on the Season 4 DVD. In early 2005, Rob's music earned him a 2nd place finish in the International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMA). He was also named a Semi-Finalist in the Disc Makers 2004 International Music World Series. A Buffalo Music Award winner, he was nominated once again this year for Best Original Acoustic Artist. In April, 2005, Rob signed with Degy International, a booking agency which also represents Flickerstick, The Toasters, and members of Rusted Root, to handle his college bookings. 'Daring and delicately understated.' - Artvoice 'The album is gorgeous. His music smacks of a hard-won humanism, tempered by a clearly blossoming songwriting talent.' - The Buffalo News 'What's impressive about your work is your unwillingness to settle for the obvious.' - Taxi.com 'Falgiano is more interested in making an album of value instead of writing one for the casual crowd.' - SoundtheSirens.com.
