I purchased this cheese slicer to replace the one we broke at my son's home. The blade slicer is angled just right to provide perfect slices of cheese, so when the wire attachment broke, the slicer was still doing a great job. The wire cutter is the weakest part of the device. We didn't get to try using the wire because it broke the first day of our visit, but my son really missed the wire, so we ordered a new slicer for him. I would advise purchasers to order replacement wires with their slicers, as the wires will not last forever.
