I bought this Life+Gear 4 in 1 Glow LED spotlight/lantern to replace an old one in my car that had stopped working long ago. I never needed the old one, but thought a spotlight like this would be useful to have in my car’s trunk in case of a break down on the road at night. The front LED spotlight is very bright, much brighter than the incandescent bulb in my old one ever was. I like the fact that it works with AA batteries, because you can get them anywhere if you needed them – unlike the old and heavy 6 Volt battery that my old one had. Since this uses AA batteries, it’s much lighter and easier to handle (they say .6 pounds, or 9.6 ounces) , and in the area where the 6V battery used to be stored on older spotlight models, it allows for a small amount of storage.Apparently, this Life+Gear 4 in 1 Glow LED spotlight will float and automatically go on if accidentally dropped in water (a lake, river or ocean, I guess) but I hope I never have the opportunity to find it necessary to use that particular feature! It has an emergency flashing light feature as well.If the AA alkaline batteries go dead, Life+Gear says they’ll replace them for free (I’m guessing they WOULD charge shipping), but I’d rather purchase AA lithium batteries, because they are MUCH LONGER lasting and lighter than the alkaline, and with Amazon Prime, if I need new batteries, 2-day free shipping would fall under my annual Prime membership anyway. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase, and Amazon had it for a good price compared to the local retailers in my area.I have another flashlight exactly like this,by the same manufacturer, that I bought at WM for much less, but never saw again there. It is worth this price though. I have dropped that poor thing multiple times and it still continues to function unlike cheaper LED flashlights that stop functioning if you drop them. My experience has been that it is better built than many. I do like the storage area although I have not put it to as good a use as others. I like the fact that it is a good enough size that you can find it. Many manufacturers seem to make them very small because they can. That makes them easy to put in your pocket but hard to find in an area full of 'stuff'. The handle is ideal for me because it is flat not curved so I can carry other things in that hand. That handle also keeps it from rolling off the counter. The only thing that makes me crazy is that you have to click it so many times to turn if off because of the different modes. I understand that the red blinking and solid red lights do have valid emergency uses, I just haven't had the need for them. I do recommend this flashlight for a good general purpose use item. I haven't tried to dump it in a body of water to see if it floats, or will turn itself on so you can find it if it does. This is a great flashlight.I had a 3 day power outage and bought this from a local store, It is very bright, I used it for lighting for 3 days having it on for 4-6 hours at a time. I would place it on a table and shine the light up on the ceiling and it would light up the whole room. It was bright enough to easily read by.I went out and bought up all the ones I could find from the local stores, found 2 more. Then went online and found it here on Amazon, bought another one, plus 2 more as Christmas gifts.Summary:1) Very bright2) Has an emergency flash mode (flashing red light) so is good for the car trunk.3) Very very long battery life, says 150 hours for the flashlight mode, I have not actually had it on for 150 hours but I know it lasts for more than 20 hours, and that is with the original shipped batteries not fresh ones.4) Uses 4 AA batteries so is easy to get new ones, and there is room inside for an extra set, so I added 4 fresh batteries, even if the thing would finally run out of juice, I'd be able to put in a new set right away. (good for the car).Buy this, you won't be disappointed.JohnUpdate:Unfortunately had one of these die on me (the switch broke) so I ordered a new one.Unlike many things these days this item is still a good deal.JohnI love this flashlight! It's bright and clear and the flash and lantern mode are very useful, but what I love most is the storage. I packed ours with water proof matches, kindling and a few birthday candles, water purification tablets, a small knife, snare wire, a wide saw, a whistle, a mini military can opener, a credit card sized multi tool, a magnifier card, hemostat powder, a sheet of mole skin, some band aids and gauze, some tiny packets of sting relief and neosporin, a card with emergency numbers and info, some cash, a small energy bar, a small scissors and thread, safety pins, bobby pins, a few small fish hooks and a spool of dental floss, a Mylar emergency blanket, aspirin, bendryl liquid caps, Imodium, sudafed, and tums. I wrapped several layers of duct tape around the handle, and then wrapped cording around the bottom. I keep it next to the bed so it can be easily grabbed in an emergency. It's a great, logical, easy, affordable way to have the very basics on hand for an emergency. I might tether an emergency radio and larger knife to it as well. Definately recommend it.Lightweight and bright. Storage compartment will easily fit extra batteries, band aids, and a few small emergency items. Has a feature that if dropped in the water it will automatically turn-on. I have not tested this, but pretty nice feature if you use this on a boat. Case is sturdy, but not sure if it would not be damaged if dropped from table height onto a hard surface. I'd would buy this again if I needed to replace.I would certainly recommend this lamp to others. It has already been used a few times, in situations that really helped - like under a badly lit sink area, while doing repairs, and trying to find house numbers at night. I would recommend buying rechargeable batteries and using them in this spotlight, especially the lithium kind. The light is more white in its colour range, and suits my needs for personal and occasional use. Some of its features are quite handy, and one never knows when the flashing red may come in handy.Fragile.
