First off, I'm not much for the horror genre (books or movies), but I really liked this book. It was the horror version of Willie Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. (Yeah, I'm old school...lol) I loved the way Mr. Chianakas used a lot of pop culture references from horror books & movies for the concept in his book. I found myself playing along with the characters & trying to see if I could figure out the answer while I read the book. There are lots of different teen characters, all with tragic pasts, who win an internet contest. Their prize: To get to compete with each other in a series of virtual horror games at The Rabbit in Red Studio, lead by THE GREATEST horror movie maker, Jay Bell. All to win prizes of cash, Internships, & a shot at a career in the horror movie industry. You find yourself rooting not only for Bill, the main character, but all his new found friends & enemies: Jaime, Rose, Wes, Daniel, plus many more. The ideas for the virtual games are so insanely interesting that I couldn't put my Kindle down because I had to see how the characters' game was ended. But true to any horror buff, the tragic pasts of these characters become a part of the game, too. Will they be able to forget the past and move forward?? And, when some of the friends turn up missing, you find yourself wondering what happened to them & if they will be found.I HIGHLY recommend this book. It is a MUST READ!! Mr. Chianakas is a TRUE horror fanatic that knows his stuff. Hopefully when you read this book, you will think the same thing as I did: "Wow! What a great idea for a movie!!". ?. It really is! I can't wait to see what happens next to this group of teens & their crazy(maybe even psychotic) leader.
