Half the price of the first one I tried. Easy to install. Fits Vortex Venom optic perfectly.Used this to mount a Fastfire III on a Ruger Mark IV. I prefer this to using the Picatinny mount on a rail or other scope base that lies along the top of the receiver since it is far less bulky and mounts the sight lower for a cleaner look. You do have to remove the factory rear sight but that's not a downside to me since I'll be using the dot exclusively.Giving this 5 stars for "easy to install", 5 stars for sturdiness but only 3 stars for "value for money". 50 bucks seems way too expensive for a couple of small, easily machined pieces, but it's a very good mount and I figure buy once, cry once. This is a quality made piece, that fits very well, very snug, and aligns well. The FF3 mounts to it and it's solid as a rock. Very easy installation as well, it comes with extra screws too in case you lose one. Great product as far as quality and for what it's meant to do.I gave this 4 stars because 3.5 isn't an option.I bought this mount so I could mount the affordable FF3 to my S&W to try it out before sending the slide to have a slot machined out for regular mounting.I shot it today and it held up great and did it's job. However, the mounting block is so thick and so high that you cannot zero the FF3 properly. Point of impact is well below point of aim, about 4-5" at 25 yards, and about 2-3" at 10-15 yards, and that's with maxing out the elevation setting on the FF3.The mount should have been made with a downward angle, leaning low in the front, so that you can adjust the FF3 to at least zero at 25 yards. For the purpose it's intended, mounting to a dovetail so you don't have to machine your slide, it's great. I just wish they had accounted more for the height above bore and tilted it down a few degrees.Quality 5/5Fit 4/5Installation ease 5/5Design 2/5Price 3/5If you don't have a CORE series (the FF3 mounts to the number 5 plate) This mount should only be used for temporary mounting or if you simply don't/can't pay for the machining of the slide (about $200 every where I've checked)I'll be sending my slide away for machining but this mount helped me determine if I like a red dot on a pistol (never experienced one before) and I ended up loving it.-Marine Vet/Police OfficerA red dot was just what I needed. This was the perfect mount for my MKII.!Ordered mine, got it pretty quick, unfortunately the model sent to me wasn’t the correct. The model number and Ruger compatible cardboard insert was correct but the instructions and model number of the device didn’t match. With my Ruger American pistol the slot for the dovetail was almost twice as big as the part your supposed to slide into place. Potentially could have made it work with a hot glue gun, duct tape, and a bit of soldering. Even the screw size for the mount to pistol side was way to small, the screws and fit for the optic where perfect though. Also, I would recommend anyone looking to setup a mount like this, also get the proper gasket to go between the optic and mounting plate. I wasnt impacted by not having one ready but that was just a consequence of it not actually being able to attach to my gun.Regardless of the inconvenience (excited to get it on and hit the range and now need to wait for proper one to come before I can use) Burris has always done right by me and honored the commitment to their customers with their warranties. A mixup in packaging dispute my adhd impatience isn’t enough to change my support got a company whose products assisted me in many hunts and shooting sports competitions.Knowing my Burris products are covered by a lifetime, no questions asked, replace (or repair) back to the shape it was in when I bought it, provides a worry free investment on more expensive higher quality Burris solutions. Whether it’s a $200 optic or a $5000 optic knowing that your protected is a bit stress relief. Also, when both in the woods, or at a competition the level of activity and speed to hit your goal comes with extra risks. I’ve put mine through some pretty unintentional rough situations that I expected my optic to be trashed only to find out at most of was minor cosmetic damage. Those situations could have easily cost me time in the woods or needing to do a full optic swap, from one I setup for an ELD match to one that I will likely take a miss when getting it setup on the fly.Burris has provided more positive experiences than negative that I will still support & recommend their products when asked. Once resolved will change my ratings but it was sturdy & installing will be easy so giving it some boosts there.Bought for Fast Fire 3. The first one I received, the screws stripped at 7 in-pounds, instructions say 12. I was sent a replacement and bought longer screws and that solved the problem. The Monstrom brand has a much better design for mounting to the rail. The Burris is very outdated design and like all their mounts is soft aluminum, screw strip at half recommend inch pounds. The fast fire 3 has been great, well, the second one I received. The first fast fire the battery cap had no threads to screw to, the second one was great and have been running or for 6 years trouble free. Chinesesium is the issue here.I was very worried about buying for my M9A1 after reading horror stories in reviews, but I jumped in and didnt have a problem persay. The dovetail inserts the mount comes with do not fit as snugly as the factory rear sight, but it does fit. I used the bigger of the two that came in the package. It tapped in easily and when you place the plate on top, it draws the insert upward and wedges it into place. Very solid although it seels strange that it's not machine perfect fitment. If in doubt, take to gunsmith or try something new yourself and learn. Perhaps a little thread locker for side to side movement, but when torqued down, it's really wedged in there good with very little doubt that it will move. Feels very solid. You will have to tighten screws down slowly making sure you get the plate to sit as level as possible on the top of the receiver. Just do it. Make yourself proud!Very well made mount, the protective wings are far more robust than the older version released with the original FastFire. I have it mounted on a barrel clamp on a VZ 58 with the factory side folding stock. The height is good in that setup no need for a riser.Mounted on M&P22 with Burris scope. Took 5 minutes to mount red dot!! Would definitely recommend!Did the job Easy to installFit good but does not stay tight when used alotSight mount worked awesome... no muss, no fuss...
