If I could rate this album higher than 5 stars I would. It's another wonderful band that my ex-husband introduced me to and I probably never would have come across it otherwise. If I could only have one CD to listen to for the rest of my life, this would be it - hands down! Not only is it wildly original, but it is so well executed, you can't imagine why this album never got the accolades it so richly deserved.Musically rich, particularly when it comes to the vocal stylings of Simon Toulson Clarke backed up with a small chorus of talented singers. You literally FEEL every word they are singing. Even if that word is only "Amen."An interesting side note, according, to Mr. Clarke, the song Amen took a full day of recording (for a 39 second song!!!). That's the kind of craftsmanship you have here.Saskatchwan and Chenko are the most clearly Native American sounding songs on the disc. I believe they are the two strongest tracks. Chenko is a mournful tune about the Native American plight and Saskatchewan is a cover of a Buffy Sainte-Marie original.Chenko and Saskatchwan both have other versions, I'm not talking about remixes, but full blown different recordings available on the vinyl 7" and 12" singles, so hunt around for them if you crave a little more Red Box. If you have a record player, they are worth a spin. And while you're hunting around for some vinyl, it may be worth noting that some of their B-sides are really great tunes that just weren't quite album worthy.Leaders In Seventh Heaven, even with all of the uniqueness on this CD, has got to be one of the most unusual pop songs ever recorded. You'd never belive a marching band could sound so good!I don't think there are any misses on this album. My only lament is that it's so darn rare! Warner or whoever now owns the rights to this should be summarily horse-whipped for not re-releasing this disc and Motive with some bonus tracks. What is particularly distressing is in this day and age of Napster, ITunes, Rhapsody, etc. why is Red Box not even available on these subscription services???But fret not ye Red Box fans. Supposedly there is another Red Box album in the works. I doubt it will sound much like The Circle and the Square, since it has been 20 years since Clarke and crew recorded this masterpiece, but surely it will be a treat to the die hards who are still scouring the internet for a copy of this CD and who have yet to even hear Motive.
