There weren't a lot of reviews for the Fairytale Boards and I bought several hoping they would be what I wanted. My daughter just turned a year old and I really wanted to get her some classic fairytales. We read to her all the time and she loves to pull out her books and "read them" on her own...so I wanted to make sure the books would be sturdy...board books seemed ideal. I didn't know from the description how abbreviated these books would be...and they really aren't. You have the full, classic fairytales here. They are not QUITE as dark as the original Grimm versions but they are the full story just with a few kid friendly changes. There are a lot of words on each page...which was exactly what I wanted. The illustrations are darling and enough to keep baby girl interested when she is "reading" on her own. If you are looking for an abreviated version of the story with just one or two lines per page...this is not the book series for you. But if you want some good, classic fairytales that can grow with the child and will survive the rough years...these are wonderful. So glad I took a risk...will be buying more from this series for sure!
