My name is Pia Zavala, and I am from Lima, Peru. I have been interested in the arts since I was a child, and was taught to crochet by my grandmother. Later on, I began designing my own clothes, and then, with my friend Debora, was inspired to design and create knitted apparel. We learned to knit, and our friends bought our first collection when we showed it to them. The business grew and we were able to hire people to help us knit. I learned more about knitting from Marcelino, our first employee, who still works for us. Debora passed away a few years ago, but the business we created has continued to grow.My father also passed away but his positive outlook on life inspires me, as do my family and friends. Our designs are made with new materials, including alpaca wool and vegetable cellulose, which are purchased locally. I am constantly challenging myself to create new designs. I really enjoy what I do, and being able to help our talented artisans have a better life is very satisfying to me."...
