I grew up using my mom's can opener that always worked, my whole life, and never knew what a treasure it was. Over my many years of adult life I have ran into one bad can opener after another that works for a while and then starts slipping or some other problem. I've tried electric and manual, expensive and dirt cheap and they all did the same thing. Finally someone recommended a Swing-Away and I got one as a last ditch effort. Come to find out, it's the brand I grew up with and iT WORKS!!!I'm ridiculously excited!!!GET THIS CAN OPENER!!! :)I thought this one was a bit bigger than it is. It’s hard to get started. It also doesn’t swing very wide.Quality is just not there , like to older ones. This one is yo light Weight. It’s no different than cheaper onesWorks justvlike the one mom had when I was still living at home. Same great quality.I had to replace my last one. It only worked for 30 years and now the cutting wheel is a bit dull.I know it was described as compact, but I was disappointed to find it I have great affection for the larger Swing-A-Way can opener, which was always used in my mother's kitchen. Sadly, this one is very small for my hand. As I was struggling to use it, I thought it might work well for a child, but not for my female hand. Not the same SwingAway can opener I remember. Feel loose and cheap. Do not recommend.Swing away can openers used to be the best ones and lasted a long time Quality has dropped in the last few years. My 25 year old Swing-A-Way can opener was Made in USA and works better than this new one which is made in China and does not even open a can properly and I tried. I chalk this purchase up as a waste of money and put it in the recycling. Not worth the postage to return it.We had a Swing A Way can opener for over 10 years. It was comfortable to hold and the action to open a can was very smooth and flawless. This new opener is much smaller and cheaply made. The action is very choppy and it's apparent the blade/cutter is cheap. Very disappointed in this purchase.Have always loved Swing-A-Way brand, but this one rusted really fastThese used to be a classic but have been ruined by their bad new handle design. The silicone handles slip off way too easy now making the best can opener available effectively the worst.
