Bought this for my husband as an anniversary gift and he loves it... it's very slim and neat... it fits perfectly in his pocketsNew to reloading, and being in the engineering field, I did my due diligence. This press stood out to me as being the perfect started press, with enough mechanisms in it to intrigue my engineering side. I read a few bad reviews and a ton of glowing reviews, and eventually decided to give this one a go.It arrived in a timely manner, 3 days earlier then I first thought actually, in very robust packaging, I needed a box cutter and screwdriver to get into it (It is secured with copper finished staples). The press was nicely packed and perfect, as were the accessories that come with it. I did forget however that I would need mounting bolts, so I used the day it took to get some to make myself a quick change plate system for the bench. After securing it to the bench I did the usual engineering checks for fit form function etc then went through cleaning (light transportation grease) and lubing the whole press with an appropriate high viscosity moly/lithium grease there are some great videos on that on Youtube (Check out "Treetopflier and GunBlue490's video's on this matter if your interested). Gavintoobe was also a great series of video's which led to me trying this press in the first place, Great work guys :).Upon inspecting the only aluminum part on it (the interchangable turret die plate) I did notice some slightly malformed threads, so I contacted Lee customer service and asked their advice... and some pics of what I though could be problematic. I got a pretty quick response, an apology for the inconvenience and a mail telling me they were sending me a replacement turret die holder free of charge, just in case.No arguments, no "trying to see what they could do" or long talks to their tech guy. Just fast prompt polite service, and covering all bases a free part just in case... 5 Stars isn't enough, they went above and beyond for me.Gentlemen of Lee Precision, you have a customer for life here.Oh as to the fit/form and function... perfect. No hangups, no need to assist the indexing, just clean smooth and a perfect first press. How far did i go in checking? up to and including centering with a Laser to check alignment and indexing without and under load... lolWhat did you expect... "Oooo Pretty... all Red and Sparkly" ? What can I say, I'm an EngineerPhenomenal product for meI like the wallet. I have a lot of cardsI have no idea how Amazon has managed to mix a wallet with an ammunition reloading press, but they have. Half way through the description of the press, everything becomes information about a wallet and the question and review section are completely mixed together. Anyway my review is for the press and has nothing to do with the wallet. It's a Lee Classic Turret and as pretty much all reviews have made clear over the past decade, it's built like a brick ****house. It works perfectly and there are no surprises to be found. I'll leave specifics to already established reviews and focus on getting it from Amazon.Normally (meaning not during pandemic and panic buying), this press can be found almost anywhere for a little over a hundred bucks. Anywhere but Amazon that is. Normally Amazon's price is 30% more than anybody else. I managed to see it on a sale here, that was less than everyone else. A very rare thing, but too good to pass up.My only real complaint was the shipping. The primary shipping box was open. I mean they didn't bother to seal the top of the box. They put a wee bit of tape on the ends, and that was all. The box was just plain opened because the small bits of tape broke because a 20 pound press slid around and popped it open. It slid around because there wasn't enough packing material in it. They only put some on one side of the box and that's it.The inner box (which the press is actually in), had some pretty severe damage and ruptures because of the sliding around. Amazingly, nothing was lost or damaged. The press and it's parts were perfectly intact and went together without problems.I needed this classic press for making larger belted magnum rounds like 30 06, 7.62x54r, 303, and 6.5x55. My value turret made them, but requires disabling the auto indexing and manually tilting the case and bullet into the die. The value turret is an inch shorter in capacity and that really limits it to pistol and carbine ammo. That includes the current model released in 2018 which is made almost entirely out of steel. It's fantastic value but limited in the size of the ammo it can make with auto indexing. This cast iron classic turret has a less ergonomic handle, and is heavier that is necessary because it's cast iron. Lee should have dropped this model and the old aluminum value turret and replaced them both with the steel value turret with an extra inch of capacity. Increased strength, lighter weight, longer life, and more ergonomic because of the angled roller handle.Good quality wallet from THThe quality was as expected, great! He loved it and it was for a good price.great productEsta bienDuring the last 40+ years I have reloaded many tens of thousands of pistol rounds, mostly on a 3 hole Lee Turret press. When 4 holers came out, I couldn’t see the point of introducing an extra station that only created more work. Whenever I was producing ultra-competitive ammunition, I used the 3 hole as usual but did the crimp as a separate operation in a single press, as they’re more accurate. Also, I have over half a dozen turret discs set up for different calibers, and that would all have to be re-built.However, there is one set-up that has caused me problems. I use the powder-through-expanding die set-up for all my reloading and for short cases such as 9mm that presents a problem. An expanding die must be long enough to match bullet /case intrusion (around 3/8”). Add to that the movement necessary to actuate the powder measure, and the die ends up protruding past the die holder. That means the case is no longer guided to the die by the holder’s chamfer and, given the necessary lack of chamfer on the expanding die, I was getting around 1 in 20 failures as the case caught the edge of the die and was damaged.I therefore thought I’d move my 9mm reloading to a 4 hole machine, where I would de-cap / prime, neck expand (without having to travel further to actuate powder measure) add powder at stage 3 and finally bullet seat / crimp at stage 4.And so I bought the Lee Classic. And I’m not impressed. This new model has extra throat clearance, presumably to accommodate longer rifle rounds. That is unnecessary – indeed a hindrance – for pistol reloading. Maybe, as rifle handloaders seldom reload pistol (and vice-versa) Lee should make two models? And so I shortened the press, which involved shortening to mounting pillars, indexing ram and main ram. Also, though it doesn’t affect me, the new press is right-hand only. The front mounting cannot be moved to the other side as with the original model. But my biggest beef is with the primer arm. On the original press, this was mounted in the machine’s base. It always stayed in the same place. You put a primer in the cup at some stage during the cycle and merely pushed the arm into the ram when you wanted to put primer into the case. Not this new one. The primer arm is in the ram and goes up and down with it. And the ram bottoms out on the primer on every downstroke (on the original model the ram head bottomed out on the machine’s base). Meaning, also, that the primer can only be added into its cup at a precise time. Assuming, that is, you can find the primer arm to put it in - it could be at the top of the ram’s stroke, at the bottom – or anywhere in-between. About as handy, as my mate used to say, as a cow with a musket.I realise, of course, that it was mounted thus with a view to fitting a device which discharged primers into said primer arm. Except, if you look at on-line comments regarding this ‘device’ you’ll see it too falls into cow/musket territory. In conclusion, this new model is far less user-friendly that the original model and, frankly, Lee should go back to the original concept. This sort of halfway house between turret and progressive simply doesn’t work.I was very pleased with this wallet, it was bought as an 18th birthday present, it is just the right size, and a lovely soft good quality leather, I was surprised and very happy with the good quality gift box it came in, just perfect for giving as a gift for that special Birthday, especially for the young man who only likes things that carry with them a good well known name. The perfect present. What's not to like about this!? Beautiful gift box, wallet itself is exactly as it is shown in the picture. A gift for my grandson who said he didn't know which was nicer, the box it came in or the wallet itself!!Good buy!Poor quality, already damage !recieved a slightly different wallet than the one pictured.... but the recipient was still pleased even if i was surprised when he opened it on his birthday.
