I used to use chemical coloring kits but wanted to stop for all the usual reasons: known carcinogen, dries/fries hair, causes hair loss, etc...I found this stuff and really like it.It is a little more work, but results are permanent and better (IMHO) than the chemical treatments - after the color settles for a couple washings - it is much more natural and blends in better than chemical treatments. Here are the steps I have perfected and follow:1. Prepare the mix a. Use boiling water in glass bowl b. Add the powder to the water in small bits c. Stir very well as you go d. Place cover on bowl to keep moist e. Put aside to "cure"2. Wash your hair while the mix cures but do not put any conditioner in3. Put on a robe or some kind of shirt with a high collar to keep mix off of your neck as you apply4. Start with roots and work outward - the mixture is thick, so you need to spend time spreading through hair5. When done, in addition to using the provided cap - take plastic sandwich wrap and wrap around head to lock in the mix and the heat6. Let mix sit on hair for 3 hours and wrap with warm/hot towel from cloths drier every 20 min. Take off, warm in dryer and do again...7. Rinse out well8. Do not shampoo9. Use a TON of conditioner to moisturize and help work out the remaining particles of the mix10. Rinse11. Don't wash hair again for 24 - 48 hours if possible12. DoneUpdate: I have found that this does not work so well for eyebrows. For one, as it dries, it gets crumbly and you don't want that stuff getting in your eyes. In addition, it can have a very orange look for the first 3-4 days and you dont want orange eyebrows even though it settles into the right color after a few days. So, I recommend using Tintocil Auburn Eyebrow Cream which is instantly the right color and does not have the issue of dried henna particles getting in your eyes:
